An exceptionally rare early Gianni Versace piece from the Spring/Summer 1984 collection, featuring the house’s iconic Oroton metal mesh—one of the earliest iterations ever produced.
This is not later Versace. This is early, experimental, couture-level Gianni—when Oroton was newly introduced and produced in extremely limited quantities by specialized metal mesh ateliers in Germany. Printed Oroton pieces from this period are particularly scarce, as the process required significantly more labor and precision than standard finishes.
The result is a fluid, liquid-metal surface with a soft, textile-like drape, contrasted by bold graphic florals in deep navy, black, and white.
The silhouette is striking and highly versatile: a halter-style tunic front with an asymmetric pointed hem, and two long silk jersey panels at the back that can be styled in multiple ways—left to drape, wrapped, knotted, or pinned. Each styling completely transforms the piece, making it feel like several garments in one.
Works effortlessly with micro shorts, tailored trousers, denim, or worn as a statement piece on its own.
