A rare, highly documented Gucci Fall/Winter 2006 runway gown from Frida Giannini’s celebrated first era at Gucci. The collection famously drew on David Bowie, 1970s glam rock and rock-and-roll theatrics, and this exact design was presented as Look 42.

The gown is museum-documented and now part of the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), Melbourne. It is crafted from meters of fluid silk crepe in a dramatic purple, burgundy and black abstract print, with strong shoulders, a plunging neckline, long sweeping silhouette and an original black snakeskin belt with metal studs and a substantial buckle.

The look also has exceptional celebrity provenance: it was worn by Tracee Ellis Ross, and made other celebrity appearances around the world, while other looks from this iconic Gucci collection were seen on Jessica Simpson, Kate Bosworth, Keira Knightley, Lindsay Lohan, Eve, Halle Berry and others.
